Is Your Surgeon ABMS Certified?
When searching for a surgeon offering cosmetic surgery procedures, one of the most important criteria to consider is board certification. Choosing a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) better ensures your safety and the results of your surgery.
A plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (a member board of ABMS) has voluntarily sought to expand his or her knowledge and expertise in plastic surgery in order to provide clients with state-of-the-art care. Requirements for certification by this member board include:
- At least five years of residency training in surgery
- At least two of the five years of residency must be focused on plastic surgery
- Passing rigorous oral and written exams
Recent years have seen an upswing in the number of medical professionals practicing plastic surgery even though their specialties are in other fields of medicine. Surgeons who do not have a background in plastic surgery may not possess the knowledge, experience or equipment necessary to minimize risk and provide satisfactory results.
Dr. Sanjiv Kayastha is ABMS-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. His passion lies in the field of plastic surgery and providing his patients with stunning aesthetic results while minimizing surgical risk.
If you live in or around Schenectady, New York, and are interested in cosmetic surgery, please contact board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Sanjiv Kayastha to schedule a consultation.
