Look At Patients Who Look Like You
The ability to effectively serve a diverse array of patients is a sign of an excellent plastic surgeon. That being said, you should pay extra attention to the “before” photos of patients whose bodies closely resemble yours. The “after” photos of these patients will give you the best visualization of how the results will look on you.
Check for Quality of Results
A great plastic surgeon tailors his or her surgical technique to the needs and goals of each patient. However, there should be a consistency in the quality of results the surgeon provides. Good practice and quality results should be evident in the photo gallery. Signs of quality results include symmetry, minimal scarring, discreet incision placement and good wound healing.
Look for Natural-Looking Results
Regardless of whether you are looking for a subtle tweak or a dramatic enhancement, chances are you want your results to appear natural. A surgeon’s “after” photos should appear natural, taking into account a person’s body proportions.
Pay Attention to Photo Quality
As much as we would like to think that all plastic surgeons are honest, the reality is that some are not. Sometimes this is evident in a surgeon’s before-and-after photos. Under-qualified surgeons may try to use photographic tricks to obscure mistakes or subpar results. When browsing before-and-after photos, pay attention to the quality of the photos. Make sure that the photos are all taken from the same angles, are in focus and use the same kind of lighting.
