Brow Lift in Albany
As you age, gravity causes the skin of your eyebrows and forehead to droop, giving your eyes a more tired and aged appearance and creating a furrowed brow. A brow lift is an effective way to reverse the signs of aging in this region, giving you a more refreshed and rejuvenated appearance.
Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
The majority of brow lift candidates are in their 40s or 50s and experience the following issues:
- Drooping eyebrows
- Winkles and creases in the forehead
- Deep furrows between the brows
- Heavy upper eyelids
- Excess skin or fatty tissue drooping over eyes
- Desire a refreshed and younger look
Your Brow Lift Procedure
There are two brow lift procedures Dr. Barach performs:
- Traditional or coronal brow lift
- Suprabrow (supraciliary) brow lift
Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bruce Barach will recommend the ideal method for your procedure based on your unique physical attributes and aesthetic goals.
In a traditional brow lift procedure, Dr. Barach will make an incision across the top of your forehead behind your hair line. Muscles are altered to eliminate forehead creases and excess skin is removed to lift the forehead skin and reposition the eyebrows.
Supraciliary brow lift is usually reserved for older patients with visible forehead creases present. It can be done with local anesthesia and involves direct excision of excess skin from just above the eyebrows. The scar that results is just above the eyebrows. This is probably not a good choice for individuals with sparse eyebrows.
Another method that exists is the endoscopic brow lift. It is less invasive, but is only good for situations where very minor brow elevation is desired. Dr. Barach believes that so little change is accomplished by this procedure that in most cases, it is really not worth doing.
Patients undergoing a traditional brow lift should expect a recovery period of about ten days with some swelling and bruising. Dr. Barach will prescribe pain medication to eliminate any discomfort you may experience. You should be able to return to work within ten days of your procedure, although it is important to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for two weeks after surgery.
