Male Gynecomastia Treatment

Male reduction surgery patient with Dr. Barach, MD in Albany, NYAlbany breast plastic surgeon Dr. Bruce Barach uses both liposuction and “cut and sew” procedures to correct gynecomastia at his practice located in Schenectady, NY. He will recommend the appropriate procedure based on your unique individual needs.

Liposuction is generally the preferred treatment method if your enlarged breasts are due to an excess of fatty tissue. Dr. Barach will make a tiny incision either around the edge of the areola or in the underarm region. He will then use a thin, hollow tube called a cannula to suction out the excess fat.

If your condition is mainly due to excess glandular tissue or if there is a lot of loose, droopy excess skin, you will most likely require a “cut and sew” procedure. Dr. Barach will remove the excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin from the breast region. Your incisions will then be closed and covered with a protective dressing.
